The following are guidelines for the acceptance of sites submitted to the directory:
Submission of a site does not guarantee listing in the directory.
The site may not be accepted in the category originally submitted to.
Poor quality sites with little or no genuine content will be rejected.
Whilst affiliate sites are accepted, only the first site so submitted will be added to the directory. Should you wish to promote an affiliate site already listed, you will need to submit a gateway site on a different URL.
Hate/racist/illegal sites will not be accepted.
DirectoryGold is a family friendly directory, so we do not permit adult links to be advertised here. If you wish to promote an adult link, please email us, and we will send you an appropriate link to submit to.
Do not submit "mirror" sites; that is, sites with identical or almost identical content on different URLs. Such sites are typically penalized in the search engines.
Please do not submit the website title or description solely as a bunch of keywords. Doing so may result in your submission being rejected.
Please submit title and description in English. Again, doing so may result in your submission being rejected.
Do not submit title or subscription in all or mostly capital letters.
The directory editor reserves the right to reject any site considered unsuitable.
Your site details may be altered, and added to what the directory editor considers to be the most relevant category.
Links are not sold based on any past, present or possible future Page Rank of the page they are listed on.
Should your link be rejected, your monies will be refunded, with the exception of $1 retained for PayPal fees and processing costs.

Is the Directory SEO Friendly?
A directory is SEO friendly if it uses straight HTML links (e.g. http://www.directorygold.com) to listed sites, not encoded links (e.g. http://www.directorygold.com/cgi-bin/directory/out.cgi?). DirectoryGold uses both. On each sites Detail page, there are straight HTML links to the listed site, and the Details page is reached by straight, static HTML links from the Index Page. Although visitors may not spot these links, search engines do.
How The Links Are Sorted:
Category Results:
DirectoryGold will sort links in the category results based on the following algorithm
Hits in = Hits x 25
Hits out = Hits x 15
Overall rating of 3+ = (Rating x # of Votes/2)
Overall rating of 2.99 to 2.00 = (no points)
Overall rating of 1.99 to 1.00 = neg (Rating x # of Votes/2)
The total point value is then added up and compared to the values of the other links in the category. The links are then sorted from highest to lowest. If any sponsor links exist in the category, they will be listed first.
Search Results:
The search results are sorted with the following algorithm
Keyword/Phrase Matches = Matches x 100
Hits in = Hits x 3
Hits out = Hits x 2
Overall rating of 3+ = (Rating x # of Votes/2)
Overall rating of 2.99 to 2.00 = (no points)
Overall rating of 1.99 to 1.00 = neg (Rating x # of Votes/2)
The total point value is then added up and compared to the values of the other links in the category. The links are then sorted from highest to lowest. Sponsor links are not given precedence in search results, but are listed in the "Sponsor" column for appropriate search results.
